About The Event
Diabetes is a condition that impairs the body’s ability to process blood glucose, otherwise known as blood sugar. Without ongoing, careful management, diabetes can lead to a buildup of sugars in the blood, which can increase the risk of dangerous complications, including stroke and heart disease.
Yoga For Diabetes is a grassroots initiative by Yogue Activewear to raise awareness about the remedial benefits of Yoga against Diabetes. It is a FREE online event conducted by an experienced Yoga professional on Sunday 20th June from 11am to 12noon on the eve of the 5th anniversary of the International Yoga Day.

The event will be conducted by Ms. Anjali Rai who is currently pursuing her Masters in Yoga Philosophy. Here is our in-depth discussion with Ms. Anjali about her Yogic practice and her love for yoga.
- Please tell us about Yourself and your Yoga Journey.
Namastey! Myself Anjali Rai. Currently am doing Masters in Yoga Philosophy & I have changed my profession from a Medico Student to a Yogic Student..I have done Graduation & Diploma in Yoga Philosophy as am very keen to learn about Yoga mystery.
It wasn’t easy for me to take this decision but Love for Yoga is infinite which gives me confidence & so far I have won Gold medal for India in International Yoga championship. In this 5 years of Yogic Journey I have learned many things even if am teaching to any yoga practitioners. My biggest Teaching event was when I taught 14000 people under Ministry of AYUSH. And recently got opportunity to teach in Vietnam..There is so much to tell about Yoga but I think Words are less. Just can say am blessed.
- What are the major challenges that you have faced in your fitness journey so far?
I was very stiff when I started practising Yogasanas as I wasn’t aware of any thing except Practising Asana & this was tough because am very sensitive as I wasn’t have good immunity but now I can say that practising Asana, Pranayama, Cleansing Excersice & Meditation helped me a lot to improve
- Any health and nutrition regimen that you strictly adhere to? Has it ever worked for you?
Yes I only have Luke warm water, love having fruits, juices, Vegetables & Home food with avoidance Overeating.
- What is your favourite yoga asana? What do you enjoy the most about it?
Dhruvasana is one of my favourite asana. It is a challenging asana that too doing with both legs & guess what ? I can do it now.
- What time of the day do you prefer to practice Yoga and why?
Morning is the best time to practice but because of my schedule I practice in Evening & evening is also good because both timings have much time gap in meal.
- Apart from yoga, what other dynamic activities you do to stay fit?
I dance , Cycling apart from Yoga.
- What difference(s) Yoga has brought to your life and personality? In what ways it has changed you as a person?
As a person I can feel so confident & motivated , even I have control on my emotions like anger after started living a yogic life. I can say I know how to live a life with presence of mind.
- What is your take on modern genres of Yoga (Power yoga, Yin Yoga, Aerial Yoga)? Have you ever tried any of those? Are the benefits that you have reaped similar to those of traditional yoga?
yes I do practice these morden forms of Yoga but Traditionals are still more effective because it connect me to my soul & I personally feel these forms are just Branches of Traditional Yogic practice.
- Any fitness advice to our Followers?
Practice Daily but patiently with respect of your Body & never be in hurry for the results.
