Beginner's Guide To Yoga

If you are checking out this article, then I believe there are two sole reasons. The first reason is that you might be a beginner and the other is you want to check out what you have been doing for the past few years or months is appropriate or not. Anyways, you are exactly at the right place!

People who haven’t tried or done yoga in the proper manner might have often told you yoga is too slow and boring. Don’t believe that kind of crap!

Yoga is more than 10,000 years old. It focuses on developing balance, strength and flexibility, simultaneously relaxing your mind. Recent studies have proved that yoga also helps in the better functioning of your brain and keeping your mind focused. It involves backward and forward bends which are energizing and have a relaxing effect. The detoxification and release of tension is achieved by the twists and the standing as well the balancing poses build stamina and improve your concentration.

To begin yoga remember the ELEWC

Learn from an Expert

Before you start doing the asana (poses) all by yourself learn it from a qualified yoga teacher who will teach you the correct method of doing each asana. Also talk to him about any previous medical history, so that he’ll tell you which asana you need to follow in order to avoid complications.

Look at yourself

Look at the clothes you are wearing. They should be extremely comfortable. Avoid wearing jeans or clothes which are comparatively thick as they hinder your exercise. Also avoid wearing jewellery and other accessories. Wear clothes that stretch, twist and turn along with you.

Eat light before practicing

Yoga is generally practiced on an empty stomach or at least 3 hours after your meal. If you are really hungry just before your practice then eat light such as fruits or oats.

Warm-up and then start

Before you start with yoga any kind of exercise, be it muscle training, cardio or yoga, warm-up must be performed at any cost. SukshmaVyayam or gentle warm-ups must be performed to loosen up the body. Try massaging your head, nose and cheeks, rotate your neck, also you can pump your shoulders to relieve any stiffness and shrug off lethargy.

Be Consistent

Being consistent in anything sets you apart from others. With constant level of dedication and practice you can master the yoga asanas.

You are all set to go now.

Good Luck!!
